The Community Leadership Summit and Open Source Think Tank have partnered to create a unique event designed for executives and managers involved in community management planning and strategic development. While the normal annual CLS serves practicing community managers and leaders well, this unique event is designed to be very focused on executives in a strategic leadership position to understand the value and process of building a community.
Join the Think Tank Community Leadership Summit and participate with other executives in discussing topics related to building a strong community management strategy in a unique and interactive format.
About The Event
The Think Tank Community Leadership Summit provides a day of sessions and interactive case studies to better define, manage, and deliver effective community management and relations.
Taking place at the Open Source Think Tank, the industry’s only by-invitation event for senior executives to gather and discuss the present and future of open source in a collaborative and collegial manner, the Think Tank Community Leadership Summit brings together the focus and spirit of the Community Leadership Summit in Portland, Oregon, the leading community management event in the world, but designed for the executives and leaders who attend the Open Source Think Tank.
The Think Tank Community Leadership Summit provides a rich schedule of presentations and workshop sessions to present and discuss the nuances of:
- Creating and resourcing a community management strategy
- Hiring a community manager
- Managing delivery and performance
- Building internal communities and leveraging open source development methods inside the firewall (inner-sourcing)
- Creating a strong relationship between the organization and the wider community.
This knowledge and skills will be exercised with a collaborative case study as the group works together to solve problems, with the solutions presented to the Open Source Think Tank attendees over the course of the three-day Open Source Think Tank event.
About The Organizer
The Think Tank Community Leadership Summit is led by Jono Bacon, founder of the annual Community Leadership Summit, author of the best-selling The Art of Community, Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical, and community management consultant.
Who is the Think Tank Community Leadership Summit intended for?
The event is designed for the attendees of the Community Leadership Summit and Open Source Think Tank, who are primarily C-level executives and/or senior community leaders at companies interested or invested in open source. The goal of the Think Tank Community Leadership Summit is to provide a strong introduction and set of discussions for building a community management strategy.
When is the Think Tank Community Leadership?
The Think Tank Community Leadership takes place from 9am – 6pm on Monday 24th March 2014, complete with a social event in the evening. The event runs in parallel to the first day of the three-day Open Source Think Tank.
Can anyone join the event or is it just executives?
The event is primarily designed around the needs and challenges that face executives and senior community managers and is reserved for the first 25 qualified participants.
I see the event is invitation only – how do I get an invitation?
You can request an invitation by clicking here.
What is the price of attending?
For more information on pricing please see this page. Participating in the Community Leadership Summit day only is $500, participating in the full Think Tank event is $1500.
Why is the event not free like the normal Community Leadership Summit?
This event is part of the Open Source Think Tank, a paid collaboration and networking event and as such the Community Leadership Summit component is part of the event. The normal annual Community Leadership Summit will continue to be free and open to all every year.
Can I just attend the Think Tank Community Leadership and not the entire Open Source Think Tank?
If you would prefer to, we can accommodate this, although we strongly recommend you participate in the full event to benefit from the wider set of content and networking opportunities.
Will you waive the fee for students or interns?
Unfortunately, you must be engaged in a management role related to open source, this event is not designed for students or interns. We strongly recommend students and interns join the main Community Leadership Summit that is open to all.
